A Big, Giant Thank You & A $20 Donation to Your Nonprofit

You have been the biggest, baddest troopers and I thank you for that. I love it that you--a thoughtful, witty reader--come to Gropius and visit me here. And with everything going on in your life, I'm even more grateful for your time and your comments.

For whatever reason, I decided to take up the NaPoBloMo challenge of blogging everyday in April on the "Big" prompt. The fact that anyone is still reading Gropius at this point is amazing.  And so, on the 30th day of the month, here's a promise:

I, Gropius, solomnly swear to never ever EVER use the word "big" again.

I thank you for putting up with the boring posts, the fat stretches made to keep within the theme, and the irritated rants about puppy mills and sign defying boaters.  You took the time to give me your well-considered perspectives on photos; tough decisions; commercials, movies and singers I like that you thought sucked; and anything I could cram into another day of survival.

I appreciate you in a big way. Oops...

Really, you guys rock.

Using a random number generator, I'm giving a $20 donation to the nonprofit of one commenter's choice. Just leave a comment including the nonprofit you choose, why you're passionate about its mission and the website of the nonprofit. I'll let you know who the winner is on Monday.
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for reading Gropius.

is the month over already? wow I was so just getting into the big groove. If I should be so fortunate as to be selected, I would appreciate a donation to the wonderful organization Camp For All. Cristy is a former camp counselor and having met some of her campers (20+ years later) they freely share how much the camping experience meant to them. Camp For All offers this same experience to children with special needs. It makes me ever so grateful that they exist. http://www.campforall.org/, And thank you for your generosity, perseverance and amazing creativity!

Gropington, the more the merrier and the bigger the better. Good on you for accepting the big challenge. Last time I suggested an Indian education NGO called Aide et Action but I reckon you should stick with something closer to home. So I googled Sarasota and charity and came up with this:
www.wastetocharity.org and they seem to be active in recycling household items, one of my favourite things, as I myself have benefited from buying household stuff from charity shops: where I get to indugle my commercial habits without guilt!

I am going to be watching for the word big to come up again. hehe. I like your blog and would one day like to know about the crabs in the photo at the top. In the meantime, I must put in a plug for my favorite charity, SPARCC (www.sparcc.net). I am amazed daily by the abuse people endure, the strength they show, and the patience and kindness of my co-workers. And the Lord knows we can use any funds we can get these days! I love your giveaways - so inspiring!

I know I missed some of your posts this month but I'm happy to know there is always something new here when I check in.

About my favorite organization? It's Kiva!
Hands down.
Kiva is the most amazing organization empowering individuals so they can earn a living and expand their businesses by giving them interest-free loans. My husband and I have loaned nearly $1,000 in total over and over to several hardworking individuals, never had anyone default, amazing to see women in Africa working, expanding their businesses and being successful at taking care of their children. I love this organization :)

Writing something daily about anything is a BIG challenge. I'd say you rose to the occasion admirably amd even found time to visit some of us. Well done.

Give the $20 to your local animal shelter.

BIG is awesome... those BIG posts are so fun to read.

About the non-profit organization, I guess I will just leave that to the US residents as it will be too difficult for you to send the money to the Philippines if in case I win... the overseas bank charges is just too much. xoxo

I don't really have a favorite non-profit, but my awesome sister in law just got the job of her dreams working for IRCO - which stands for Immigration and Refugee Community Organization. Her job is to help new immigrants and refugees fend for themselves in the US. You can check out the link here: http://www.irco.org/

What? The BIG month is over? That was fast!

Normally, I would go with Uncommon Blonde's favorite. But in light of the oil spill, I nominate the Audobon Society. :)

Not "big," but "mondo." ;-) How quickly that month went by! Your writing is always a treat.

I loved your "BIG" posts, and looked forward to see what you were going to come up with each day! And you never ran short of idea..how inspiring you are! I am all for giving to charities in your community. As I am all about the animals, I agree with Mr. Charleston...your local animal shelter or any other local charity to help people in your area.

So I go away for the weekend, and I come back to the news that BIG is not only over, but banned from the blog as well?? It was fun to see what you did with such an, er, large theme :)

As far as my favorite nonprofit--it's Compassion International...they are making a dent in 3rd world poverty by improving the lives of children through personal sponsorships--love it!

And did I mention that you absolutely rock?? How awesome of you to do this :) Hands down, the best "giveaway" out there.
